Residual TCE Testing Ahead of Regulatory Phase-Out
This is a representative example pending publication of a real, client-approved case study.
Challenge
A technical operations team needed to assess whether residual trichloroethylene could be present in materials, cleaning workflows, or waste streams as regulations and internal requirements moved toward phase-out. The goal was to inform transition planning without overstating findings beyond the tested samples.
Approach
Samples were prepared and analyzed by GC-MS using a targeted review for TCE and related volatile organic compounds. The study compared representative materials and process-adjacent samples to help distinguish expected background conditions from areas requiring additional controls.
Result
The testing helped the team document the status of representative samples and prioritize replacement chemistry qualification, handling updates, and supplier questions. The qualitative findings supported a clearer path toward phase-out readiness and future verification testing.
