Ion Chromatography

Chemical & Elemental Analysis

Ion Chromatography is a technique used to separate, identify and measure ionic species dissolved in water. Solutions containing a mixture of ions are injected into packed columns which separate the ions and direct them through a detector that records their concentration. Ion identification is based upon the time required for the ion to pass through the packed column. Detection limits are typically 5-10 ppb for common anions and cations dissolved in pure water. Applications include identification of contaminants in pure water supplies, process water, dilute process chemicals and waste streams. Water extractable contaminants from cleanroom materials, process equipment, construction materials, electronic & mechanical devices and similar products can also be measured.
